About Adam Yamey

Introducing an active author and retired dentist

ADAM YAMEY was born in London seven years after VE Day, the end of WW2 in Europe. His parents were born in South Africa.

He studied for five years at Highgate School in north London before entering University College London. There, he was awarded a doctorate in mammalian physiology, and then qualified as a dental surgeon. After 35 years practising dentistry in Berkshire, London, and Kent, he retired. His main interests apart from writing include: blogging, book shopping, cookery, cinema, history, music (classical and traditional ‘world music’), photography, reading, walking, and travel

Adam is married to an Indian. He has been visiting India frequently since 1994. These visits have engendered his great love of, and enthusiasm for, the people, culture, and history of that country.

Adam has published books on diverse subjects. These include: Hampstead; South Africa; the Balkans, especially Albania; India and Indian freedom fighters; Italy and Sicily; and the history of Jewish migration from Europe.

His most recent book is a biography of his mother, a sculptor.
